Ladies, we need to have a heart to heart. A real, rip the Band-Aid off quickly but it is still going to hurt kind of talk. A talk about your shoes. Now I get it, those stilettos are gorgeous and damn girl they really make your outfit. But you are walking like a newborn giraffe. Darlin’ that just isn’t sexy.
You know what is sexy? Like a million times more than that newborn giraffe hobble you have got going on there? Walking in like you own the place. A full on strut, a runway walk, a shake what your mama gave you and make the whole world notice walk. You can’t do that if you can’t well, WALK, in your shoes.
Now I know I know it is painful to hear that you have to put those ah-MAZ-ing shoes back on the rack but sister just listen and do it. I don’t care if they are on the best sale of the year, if those babies do not fit like a dream, just say no. I cannot express adequately how sad it is to see a woman walking around in shoes half a size too big and making a fool of herself tripping over her own feet. Or if you know that you take teeny tiny little mincing steps and feel like you are falling over in 5″ heels, put them back. Remember, before it was a shoe, stiletto was the name of a knife. Used incorrectly, you can hurt yourself with both.
I promise there are more shoes out there, shoes that fit, shoes that flatter, shoes that will make you say, “Damn, I look good!” and make you feel like you can take on the world. With the right shoes, a girl can take over the world. I firmly believe that, just look at my shoe closet. The right shoes for you might be flats, or 2″ heels, or they could be those 5″ platform stilettos that we all drool over. Whatever that shoe is, own it and work it girl.
Now you want to be a stiletto gal? Start smaller, I promise it will be worth it. Get those kitten heels, keep your shoulders back and your head high. You will find your strut. But it is going to take some practice. And I do mean practice. Ever seen Top Model? Those girls have instructors teaching them how to walk. It isn’t always as easy as putting one foot in front of the other.
So ladies, my lovely ladies, each and every one of you, be nice to your feet as you only get one set. Make your shoes fit not only your feet but your lifestyle too. And remember, there is a time and place for those red soles and a time and place for chucks, the two are rarely the same.
Love and stilettos,
